At six years old, Harley was noticed by his owner, Ralph Dorn, roughly 200 feet from the shore, paddling with an unknown animal for an astoundingly selfless purpose.
When Ralph came a little closer, he realized that Harley wasnât just casually swimming â he was in the middle of a rescue mission! Ralph Dorn, a man from Virginia, always knew that his Goldendoodle, Harley, wasnât an ordinary dog.
He has always been a good boy, very intuitive and stunningly intelligent. Yet, Harley managed to surprise his Hooman once more when he rushed into action to help a baby fawn from drowning.
As soon as Harley spotted the baby fawn helplessly trying to get out of the water, he jumped into action! He didnât think twice, nor did he ask why â he just started swimming towards the baby, who was around 200 feet away from the shore.
Helping the fawn, which was only a few days old, was no easy task! The baby was lacking coordination and didnât know how to get to the shore. But Harley, swimming like a pro, began herding his newest friend towards the shoreline.
âEvery time the fawn tried to turn away, Harley would herd it back towards the shoreline, and they kept getting closer and closer,â Ralph recalls. As Harley and the fawn neared the shore, Ralph couldnât help but feel proud of his furry friend. It was a sight to behold â Harley, determined and focused, guiding the tiny fawn to safety.
Harley’s Unwavering Determination
The journey to the shore wasnât straightforward. The baby fawn, frightened and disoriented, kept trying to turn away from the shore. But Harley was relentless. Every time the fawn veered off course, Harley would gently nudge it back in the right direction.
